Those races run the gamut from the Boston Marathon, to Maine’s Beach to Beacon and the ever-popular Falmouth Road Race. SAN DIEGO — A beautiful San Diego sunrise greeted thousands of runners on Shelter Island as they lined up for the start of the inaugural lululemon San Diego 10K. It was a perfect southern California morning with 60-degree temperatures. Although there was a touch of fog to begin the day, by the time the airhorn sounded, it had burned off and the 5,000 participants were treated to views of the Shelter Island Marina. The course took runners along picturesque San Diego Bay and attracted runners from 41 states and six Canadian provinces. Participants were encouraged throughout the 6.2 miles by eager supporters, inspirational signage, and enthusiastic cheer zones.

BIG TURNOUT FOR SECOND ANNUAL MR8K IN BRIGHTON

Over 1,200 runners participated in the 2nd Annual MR8K: A Run for Gratitude at the Warrior Ice Arena in Brighton on Labor Day morning. The race, a signature event organized by the Martin Richard Foundation, is held every year in honor of Martin Richard, the youngest victim of the Boston Marathon bombing.
