RUN ME ROUND AT THE BALLPARK

ROAD RACE MANAGEMENT

What started in Boston is not staying in Boston. Just over a year after Dave McGillivray managed the first marathon ever run entirely inside a Major League Baseball stadium at Fenway Park in Boston, he unveiled plans for a second event (also featuring an American League Team) at MinuteMaid Stadium in Houston, TX on November 18. The Boston event, which consisted of 116 laps around the warning track, was held last September 15 and quickly sold out its 50 slots, each of which came with a $5,000 fundraising commitment. The next edition of the Boston event will be held August 24 and ups the starter limit to 75. The Houston event will also allow 75 starters, each of whom will be required to raise a minimum of $4,000 to benefit the Astros Foundation and Houston Marathon Foundation.
