INAUGURAL MINUTE MAID PARK MARATHON TO TAKE PLACE ON NOV. 18
RUNNING USA
Marks second marathon of Inside the Park Marathon Series, benefiting Astros Foundation and Houston Marathon Foundation
HOUSTON — The inaugural Minute Maid Park Marathon will be held on Sunday, November 18, 2018, and will start at 7:00 a.m. CDT with a six-hour cut-off time. This is the second marathon in the newly established Inside the Park Marathon Series, which is a series of marathons held entirely within Major League Baseball ballparks.
The race will be managed by DMSE Sports and will benefit two organizations. The Astros Foundation is the official team charity of the Houston Astros and supports Houston-area youth baseball and softball programs, the recognition and honor of the U.S. military, childhood cancer awareness, and efforts to reduce homelessness. The marathon will also benefit the Houston Marathon Foundation, which supports the advancement of running as an element of a balanced, healthy lifestyle nationally and in the Houston community.
The race will be USATF certified. Each runner will run 112-116 laps (distance TBD upon official measurement), counted electronically, along the warning track of Minute Maid Park. Spectators will be allowed into the park to watch the race. All participants will receive a unique race shirt and one-of-a-kind finisher’s medal, not to mention bragging rights as one of the very first participants to ever run a marathon totally within Minute Maid Park.
Because of space constraints, the maximum number of runners will be 75. Although there is no entry fee, there is an Astros Foundation/Houston Marathon Foundation fundraising requirement minimum of $4,000 for each participant. Official entries will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis until the field size of 75 is reached. To register, go to www.insidetheparkmarathon.com/houston.
