Fall 50 Cape Cod is designed to be a daylong running adventure set against the colorful backdrop of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, during peak fall colors. Participants may compete as members of a team of 2-5 runners or as a solo ultra-marathoner.

The course starts on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean in Wellfleet, Massachusetts, at White Crest Beach and finishes on the sand at Craigville Beach in the town of Barnstable, west of Hyannis. In between, the 50-mile route takes runners through some of the most scenic parts of the Cape including the Cape Cod National Seashore and lots of miles along the Cape Cod Rail Trail and Old Colony Rail Trail. The quaint towns and villages that dot the route include Eastham, Orleans, Brewster, Harwich, West Dennis, South Yarmouth, Hyannis, and Barnstable.

The Fall 50 has a wave start. All solo runners will start at 7 am to allow them the maximum daylight available. The teams will start in four waves every 45 minutes at 7:45 am, 8:30 am, 9:15 am and 10 am. In early September, the teams will be assigned start times based on their anticipated ‘team pace,’ with the slowest teams starting earlier and the fastest teams starting later. This approach will concentrate the arrival of most participants to the finish line between 4 and 6 pm on Saturday. Team pace is calculated by taking the average of the team members’ paces!
