We are excited to announce the Inaugural Fenway Park Marathon! It will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 (one of only a few open dates at Fenway Park), and will start at 5pm EST with a 6-hour cut-off time. As far as we know, this will be the first time a marathon is held totally within the confines of a Major League Baseball ballpark!
The race will be managed by DMSE Sports and will benefit the Red Sox Foundation, which is the official team charity of the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox Foundation harnesses the passion of Red Sox Nation to make a difference in the lives of children, veterans, families and communities throughout New England by improving their health, educational and recreational opportunities.
Because of space constraints, the maximum number of runners will be 50. Although there is no entry fee, there is a Red Sox Foundation fundraising requirement minimum of $5,000 for each participant. At this time, the field is set and all 50 runners have been selected/notified. Prizes will be given to the top three fundraisers including Green Monster seats!
Each runner will run 112 laps—counted electronically—along the warning track of the oldest ballpark in America. Spectators will be allowed into the park to watch the race. All participants will receive a unique race shirt and one-of-a-kind finisher’s medal… not to mention bragging rights as one of the very first runners to ever run a marathon totally within a pro sports stadium!
